WOLFPACK: What We’re Reading

It’s a new year, so we’re feeling both optimistic and ambitious. As a result, we’re reading TWO drastically different (but equally awesome) books this month.

WOLFPACK: How to Come Together, Unleash Our Power, and Change the Game by Abby Wambach

Few can top the general badassery that is Abby Wambach (though we’d argue that her wife, Glennon Doyle, gives her a run for her money).

The two-time Olympic gold medalist and FIFA World Cup champion knows a thing or two about leadership. She passionately articulates how to transform failure into fuel and demand the power and respect that you deserve (regardless of gender).

She writes: “We have never been Little Red Riding Hood. We Are the Wolves. We must wander off the path and blaze a new one: together.”

Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times by Katherine May

A transformational read.

Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times is a quietly powerful take on how to weather hard times and focuses on turning inward as a source of strength and wisdom.

An apropos book for those of us feeling frustrated by this marathon of a pandemic. Author Katherine May shows readers how to find beauty even in difficult moments and reminds us that spring awaits.

May writes: “More than any other season, winter requires a kind of metronome that ticks away its darkest beats, giving us a melody to follow into spring. The year will move on no matter what, but by paying attention to it, feeling its beat, and noticing the moments of transition—perhaps even taking time to think about what we want from the next phase in the year—we can get the measure of it.”
