There really are such things as golden eggs. You just have to follow your treasure map: Thoughts From Red Sunflower Farm
Curious Questions from Observing the Everyday
There really are such things as golden eggs. You just have to follow your treasure map.
I’m going to let you in on a little secret: Magical elves visit our farm before our grandchildren’s weekly visit. First, they plant seeds in the soil at night. Then, you won’t believe what happens the following morning — up pops a Pez dispenser loaded with a couple of treats for each child!
As a result, our grandchildren know that Red Sunflower Farm is occasionally graced with magic. So it probably shouldn’t have come as a surprise to me when my grandson announced that he wanted to hunt for treasure (and that he fully expected to find something should he start digging).
Barry and the grandbabies talked through the idea and quickly devised a strategy. Before you can hunt for treasure, you need a plan. You can’t just dig haphazardly, hoping to strike gold. (Well, I suppose you can, but you’re not likely to find much success.)They needed to make a treasure map.
My grandson quickly got to work, drawing the farm and carefully plotting two pronounced x’s on the map.
In preparation for their next visit, we acquired some golden eggs. Barry even stuffed a few with silver dollars!
The following week, the grandchildren set out on their treasure hunt. Following the map, they hoped that X would, in fact, mark the spot.
The pure joy they exuded as they dug up their gold was worth the effort (and, let’s face it, fun) of setting up the day’s activity. My grandbabies remind me, with every visit, to enjoy the little things and pursue life with gusto.
And our conversations about treasure hunts got me thinking about the differences between wanting wealth and planning for wealth.
I’ll leave you with these curious questions:
How can a plan better support your pursuit of prosperity?
How can you step back and map out your process to set yourself up for success?
Are you digging for treasure haphazardly? Or are you digging with purpose?
