With the world at your fingertips, your choices have never been greater. The pace of life has never been faster. The constant expectation from every corner of your life that you will respond immediately to any and all communications can make you feel exhausted before you step out of bed in the morning.

How do you prosper in this new world? Prosper, not as in simply building wealth, but thriving and becoming all you can be. When you prosper, you feel satiated and satisfied with your life at an elemental level. There is a state of peace and contentment inherent in prosperity. There are 4 secrets to stepping out of the chaos and into a state of prosperity.

Secret one

Having enough money is foundational to happiness. Until we have enough money to meet our basic needs, we are focused on surviving. So, secret one is having enough. That implies, of course, you know what enough is for you.

In a Princeton University study on money and happiness, researchers found a tipping point, at about $75000. In their report, Kahneman and Deaton, both professors at Princeton University, write “Beyond $75,000 in the contemporary United States, however, higher income is neither the road to experience happiness nor the road to relief of unhappiness or stress, although higher income continues to improve individuals’ life evaluations.”

Secret two

Clear intent is secret two to being prosperous in a chaotic world. Your prosperity intention is a higher aspiration or value that guides your actions. Just like a lighthouse guides a ship, a clear intention statement guides you on your journey to prosperity. When you are intentional in your money life you are deliberate, thoughtful and purposeful.

Intention gives you the ability to focus in the chaos. By focusing, you can attend to what is important, useful and inspiring to you. The simple act of intentional focus clears away all the chatter that distracts you from your path.

Secret three

Secret three to being prosperous in a chaotic world is to create great structures. Structure includes the places, plans, people, and elemental pieces of your life.
When you are prosperous, you are your most alive and engaged self.

Think of a seed. While it remains in the seed package it doesn’t sprout and grow. But take that same seed and surround it with good soil, water and nutrients and it will flourish. The same is true for you. You flourish when you are surrounded by what nurtures you.

Secret four

The fourth and final secret to being your most prosperous self is to measure your progress and take time to reassess your path.

When you measure the right things, you stay focused on what is important. This is critical is a world of chaos, as it is easy to be attracted to the next shiny object of attention. That shiny object may need someone’s attention, but if it’s not part of the intention for your life, it doesn’t need your attention. Measuring gives you a clear way to check in and make sure you are staying focused.

Every 6 months to a year, take time to reassess your path. Life changes. Our external environment changes. You change your mind. Give yourself permission to make new choices when the old ones no longer fit.
