It is hard to believe that we will soon be say­ing “good­bye” to the Year 2018!  With the clos­ing of the year usu­al­ly comes the time to think about purg­ing items in order to make room for new things.  There are guide­lines to take into con­sid­er­a­tion before you begin to just throw items away.

Busi­ness­es are required to retain con­fi­den­tial client, employ­ee and com­pa­ny infor­ma­tion for a min­i­mum amount of time.  Hold­ing onto them for too long could put you at risk of a secu­ri­ty breach and non-com­pli­ance with today’s pri­va­cy legislation.

We have put togeth­er a doc­u­ment reten­tion sched­ule that out­lines how long you should hold on to impor­tant doc­u­ments.  After their reten­tion peri­od is com­plete, you should ensure that they are secure­ly destroyed.
